This is a snapshot of our garden at our house near Delicate Nobby - Crescent Head, NSW.

We have the advantage of being surrounded by native Littoral Rainforest and have gradually been removing any exotic plants from near the house so that our lawn is almost all native herbs and grasses. It consists of Centella, native Ranunculus, Hydrocotyle, dwarf panic grass, tiny sedges and I am sure some other interesting plants as well. We whipper-snip from time to time which keeps this area neat and tidy...and we never water!

Early in 2006 we built a small pond. It has been a great success. Early morning and late afternoon we have about 8 - 10 different species of birds come for their daily drink and bath. The birds range in size from tiny silvereyes, blue wrens, rufus fantails and firetails up to the satin and regent bowerbirds. This is great for us as we have a wonderful vantage point looking over the pond from our verandah. We have encouraged the blady grass to grow near the pond and we have planted a few local wetland plants into the pond so as to give the little birds some protection.

Being in a rural area we are fortunate to also be visited by red-necked wallabys and possums.
